DAVAO CITY -- A university in China is offering scholarship program packages on Chinese culture and arts appreciation to Compostela Valley.
Christine Dompor, provincial tourism and investment promotion officer, revealed in an interview that Huaqiao University, one of the biggest and oldest university located in the province of Fujian, China, is offering three scholarship packages for government officials, government employees and Senior High School graduates.
“In the past two years, more Chinese businesspersons are engaging in agribusiness and real estate; and this course would help us in our business undertaking and international relations,” Dompor emphasized.
The first package, she said, is for 15-20 government officials and employees, who will be learning Chinese culture and arts, including the Mandarin language for six months at Ateneo de Davao University.
Dompor said that the AdDU is a sister school of Huaqiao University under the latter’s Confucius Institute, the school’s international relations program.
She said that the second package are for one or two government officials and/or employees to be exposed in the Chinese culture and Arts in China for one year.
“They will have an immersion in China and all of their expenses will be covered,” she said.
The third package, she said, are for one or two Senior High School graduates, who are willing and qualified to school in China for four years.
“Of course, included in the contract is for the students, after graduation, to teach Chinese culture and arts in the Philippines,” she said.
Dompor also bared that Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy has endorsed the third package to the Department of Education to select the deserving students. (PIA11 DabaweNEWS – Michael Uy)
